New Year – New Music! Practice Tips for 2014
Musicians Mobile students (and teachers!) are always looking for ways to improve their practice time. Whether it’s making the most out of a shortened session, being able to see progress, or simply focusing, students and teachers alike need pointers to stay motivated in music.
We have scoured our sources to find what we believe are the seven best practice “tips” for our Musicians Mobile community.

Music as a Language – A New Way of Considering Music Lessons
We recently posted a video link on our Facebook page from Victor Wooten and TED-Ed on Music as a Language.
Wooten introduces the video by stating that music is a language, and, just like verbal language, it serves as a sign of expression. It can be read or written, and it can make you laugh or cry. In fact, sometimes music can be better than spoken word, because it doesn’t need to be understood to be effective.
Is it possible to learn music the same way you learned to speak? Absolutely! We just have to change our perceptions…
Piano Pop Concert to Rock the South Bay
Musicians Mobile Piano Pop Concert:

- Saratoga Recreation Center Multi-Purpose Room, 19655 Allendale Ave., Saratoga, CA 95070
Musicians Mobile will bring South Bay families together for their annual student-based Piano Pop concert. More than 15 “bands-for-a-day” will consist of friends and families playing together and singing songs by Journey, Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and more. This event is free to the public, allowing residents to join the fun and support the efforts of local music students in a professional environment.

Musicians Mobile Introduces “Meaning Through Music” Scholarship Opportunity
As we wrap up our summer session, we wanted to provide our students with the opportunity to showcase their favorite pieces; one that uses our new online community and allows them to perform for people in a unique and exciting way. Best of all, it’s a scholarship and awards opportunity for all of our students to receive fun prizes, certificates, and best of all, scholarships from Musicians Mobile and H324!
Saratoga Students Come Together in Rock Solid Confidence
Local students joined a seminar to learn about and strengthen collaboration and teamwork
The Joan Pisani Community Center rocked this summer as Saratoga students filled it to learn about collaboration and teamwork with the ultimate goal of putting together a rock band during a workshop entitled, “Rock Solid Confidence.”
Teacher Spotlight- Colin Wins Big!
Musicians Mobile has extraordinary students. Behind these students are extraordinary families, an extraordinary community, and extraordinary teachers. One such example is Colin Gailey, our June 2013 Teacher Spotlight!
How Colin Got His Start:
Like many students, Colin began playing guitar as a young teenager. Also like many of our students, Colin aspired to be like his musical hero, Joe Satriani. “At fourteen, after watching Satriani, I knew that playing guitar was what I wanted to do with my life. Listening to Satriani encouraged me to always get to that next level,” he says.
Student Spotlight- Rachael Achieves Scholarships!
Saratoga, Calif., June 7, 2013 – Lynbrook High School senior, Musicians Mobile student and Saratoga resident Rachael Chambers embodies a vision of success. In a world growing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and dwindling in the arts, Rachael has defied the odds and not only been accepted into prestigious music schools around the country, but has also been offered scholarships to help her follow her dreams.
