Musicians Mobile Introduces “Meaning Through Music” Scholarship Opportunity

As we wrap up our summer session, we wanted to provide our students with the opportunity to showcase their favorite pieces; one that uses our new online community and allows them to perform for people in a unique and exciting way. Best of all, it’s a scholarship and awards opportunity for all of our students to receive fun prizes, certificates, and best of all, scholarships from Musicians Mobile and H324!

How Will It Work?
Students will email us [natem@musiciansmobile.com] a phone video of a home performance of their favorite song. There should be a brief introduction before they perform as to why they like it the song that they’ve chosen and why it has special meaning to them. After emailing it to us, we will be in contact with them regarding next steps and posting it to YouTube.

Official Rules:

  • Phone videos only – please email natem@musiciansmobile.com with the video directly from your smartphone.
  • Along with your performance, include a brief (30 seconds or less) description of your song and what it means to you.
  • Participation is absolutely FREE!
  • All entries are due by August 31 at noon.

What Will Participants Receive?
There will be two main prizes!

  1. The best performer will receive a scholarship for 1 month of FREE lessons from Musicians Mobile (valued at $180).
  2. The best introduction will receive a scholarship for a FREE half hour, one-on-one, Skype public speaking coaching session (valued at $150) with H324, an innovative Bay Area public speaking training company working with clients from Google, Apple, ZenDesk, Yahoo and more!

We believe that being a performer is more than simply playing an instrument well. It’s also the ability to present yourself in a public setting and create a relationship with your audience. Public speaking and live music go hand in hand. We hope that this collaboration will help our students not only in music, but also in their personal goals and aspirations as overall great performers.

Runners-up will receive certificates from Musicians Mobile and a gift-bag from local sponsors and businesses.

Criteria
Entries will be judged on the following areas:

  • Introduction Speech (content, presentation, creativity)
  • Musical Technique (pitch, rhythm, tone, ability)
  • Musical Interpretation (style, dynamics, tempo, originality)
  • Overall Performance (Is this now our favorite song, too?)

Next Steps:

  • The competition will be open from August 1 – August 31.
  • If you are interested in submitting an entry, discuss the options with your teacher. We’re here to help you!

We look forward to seeing many wonderful phone videos and hearing great songs!
